Craftsmanship

George’s talents extended to many types of crafts.  Upon his retirement he moved into wood carving after investing in a scroll saw.  The Tom’s River house become quite decorated with his woodworking pieces including gingerbread on the outside and carved wood moldings and trim in the living and dining rooms.
George also became interested in model making creating a small train village in his garage and also using his metal forgeing skills to create the Queen’s Guard, see the gallery below.

  1. It was great seeing the pictures of the carved work Dad did and gave to all of us. It was especially nice that someone had pictures of the miniature carnival as I thought that was lost to posterity. Now if someone just had a picture of “Santa’s Workshop” from Old Bridge or Brooklyn, that would be great!

  2. Wow, I am really impressed by the detail Dad put into your lighthouse. It feels good to be impressed by his work once again as I haven’t seen a new piece in a long time. I will have to post pictures of the lighthouse we have as it is different. Hope you other lighthouse owners will send in your pictures so we can all appreciate the detail and wimsy put into each one.
